The collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the rise of the modern Turkish republic are told in this historical epic. The Turkish revolution of 1918-1923 and the lives of thosewho took part, such as Kemal Atatürk, İsmet İnönü, and Halide Adıvar, are dramatized on a grand scale based on the actual events. The motion picture is preceded by a twelve minute documentary consisting of b&w archival footage that explains the events leading to the revolution.
