Osmanlı toplumunda, Tanzimat'tan sonra başlayan sosyal ve ekonomik dönüşüm, 1880-1910 döneminde büyük bir hız kazanmıştır. Manisa, Avrupa ile sıkı bir ticari ilişki içinde olan Batı Anadolu Bölgesi'nde bulunduğu için, bu dönüşümleri daha yoğun bir biçimde yaşamıştır. Sosyal ve ekonomik hayatın geliştirilmesi için devlet, kurumsal düzenlemelere gitmiş; yörede, idari ve teknik kurumların yanı sıra laik eğitim veren eğitim-öğretim kurumları; kredi-finans kurumları ve ulaşım ve haberleşme' kurumlarını kısa sürede kurmuş ve faaliyete geçirmiştir. Devlet, bu dönemde özellikle tarım sektörünü çeşitli teşvik tedbirleriyle desteklemiştir. Tarımda modern girdilerin özendirilmesi, verimliliği artırmıştır. Verimlilik artışı, ulaşım-haberleşme imkanlarının yaygınlaşmasına da paralel olarak pazarlanan ürün miktarını artırmış ve üreticinin refah düzeyini yükseltmiştir. İncelenen dönemde Osmanlı Devleti'nin izlediği serbest dış ticaret politikası nedeniyle yörede, dış talebi fazla olan tarım ürünlerinin üretimi büyük ölçüde artmıştır. Dış ticaretin liberalleştirilmesi, bölgede, tarımın gelişmesini sağlarken, tarım-dışı üretim faaliyetlerinin özellikle de tekstil üretiminin hızlı bir gerileme trendine girmesine neden olmuştur. Geleneksel zanaatlar gerilerken az sayıda da olsa büyük ölçekli sanayi tesisleri kurulabilmiştir. Sanayi ve ticari faaliyetler, levantenler ile yerli gayrimüslimlerin eline geçmiştir. Tarım sektöründeki gelişmeler ve sanayi üretimini iyileştirme çabaları, Birinci. Dünya Savaşı'na dek sürmüştür.<br/><br/>The social and economic transformation in the Ottomon society started after the establishment of Tanzimat has been accelerated in the 1880-1910 peried. Since Manisa a lies in the west part of Anatolia which has a strong trade relationship with Europe, this transformation was felt more than the other provinces. The goverment has made the institutional arrengements to improve the social and economic life; established and the institutions related to the management, the secular education instititutions, the financial and communicational institutions in a short period. During this period, the goverment has particularly supported, the agricaltural sector by extra-credits. Encouragement of the modern inputs in agriculture has increased the productivty. The increase in the productivity led to an increase in the amount of products which were introduced and the life standart of the producers. In Manisa, the amount of the products in agricalture which are suitable for export has greatly increased due to the free foreign policy followed by the Ottomon Empire. The liberality in the foreign trade has provided the development of aggriculture, and especially led to a trend of a fast decrease in the textile product which was outside the agriculture sector. While the traditional arts have been decreasing, the industrial institutions with a great finance have also been established. The industrial and trade activities were at the hand of European and non-muslim people who live in Turkey. The efforts for the development in the agricultural sector and to improve the industrial production have continued up to the first World War. |
