Bu tez, III. Mehmed'in 1596 yılında ordusunun başına geçerek Eğri'ye düzenlediği askerî harekâtı ve 1596 tarihli Eğri Seferi Rûznâmesi'ni çevre ve iklim tarihinin metodolojisini kullanarak ele almaktadır. Zaman ve mekân olarak muharebe anlarının kendisinden daha çok yer kaplayan askerî harekât süreci üzerinde iklimin, çevrenin ve bunlarla ilişkili bir çerçevede de lojistiğin nasıl bir etkisinin olduğu incelenmektedir. Doğanın savaşın gidişatı ve askerlerin fiziksel-psikolojik durumu üzerinde nasıl bir rol oynadığı sorusunun cevabı, mücadele eden tarafların asker sayıları, silah teknolojileri, askerî eğitim ve strateji farklılıkları bir kenara bırakılarak cevaplandırılacaktır. Askerî tarih çalışmalarında pek yapılmadığı haliyle, kuşatmaları ve meydan savaşlarını ana odak noktası haline getirmeyerek sefer sürecinde yaşanan insan ve doğa ilişkilerine mercek tutulacaktır. |

This thesis examines Mehmed III's military operation on Eğri in 1596 and the Eğri Expedition Diaries (Eğri Seferi Rûznâmesi) of 1596 using an environmental and climate history approach. It investigates the impact of climate, the environment, and, in a related context, logistics on the military operation process, which occupies more time and space than battle moments. Putting aside the number of soldiers, weapon technologies, military training, and strategy differences between the warring groups, the answer to the question of how nature plays a role in the course of the conflict and the physical-psychological condition of the soldiers will be revealed. Unlike the general tendency in Ottoman military history studies, the relation between human and nature during the campaign will be the main focus instead of sieges and field battles. |
