She was born 13 October 1933 in Senatobia, Mississippi, United States; recorded with Dr. David Evans, an ethnomusicologist from Memphis State University (1973 and 1979). She released an album, She Wolf on the French label Vogue (1981). She won the W. C. Handy Award for Best Female Traditional Blues Artist (1987 and 1988), and received another W.C. Handy Award for Best Country Blues Album, Historical Style for the LP Feelin' Good, produced by Evans and issued on the High Water label (1991). She suffered a stroke that ended her performing and recording career in 1993). She died 22 July 2006 in Senatobia, Mississippi, United States)
