- Information found: (Veazey, William Reed (1883-1958); Veazey was already well established teaching chemistry and chemical engineering at the Case School of Applied Sciences when Herbert Henry Dow asked him to consult on magnesium production in 1916; Veazey had been born in Chase City, Virginia on December 29, 1883 and did his undergraduate work at Westminister College; after completing his doctorate in chemistry at Johns Hopkins in 1907, he began teaching at Case; Veazey, a frequent consultant for Dow over the years, was finally persuaded to leave Case in 1936 to work for Dow; he remained with Dow until retiring in 1953; he died on September 20, 1958; in the summer of 1916, Veazey lead a small group at Dow who produced the first pound of magnesium metal in the United States using the process he developed)
