Wikipedia, Aug. 20, 2012 (under Iodine: Inorganic iodine compounds: Iodine forms compounds with all the elements except for the noble gases. Organic compounds: Many organoiodine compounds exist; the simplest is iodomethane, approved as a soil fumigant. Iodinated organic compounds are used as synthetic reagents.)
IUPAC nomenclature of organic chemistry, via WWW, Oct. 26, 2012: R-5.3.1 Halogen compounds (Halogen compounds may be named systematically according to two systems. Some trivial names are retained (see R-9.1, Table 32). Substitutive names are formed by adding the prefixes "fluoro-", "chloro-", "bromo-", or "iodo-" to the name of the parent compound. Functional class names are formed by naming the organic "groups" followed by the class name "fluoride", "chloride", "bromide", or "iodide", preceded, if necessary, by a numerical prefix, as a separate word.)
