Kentler sürekli olarak değişen ve dönüşen dinamik varlıklardır. Değişim ve dönüşüm süreçleri kent içinde, ya yapısal bozulma, ya işlevselliğini yitirme ya da yapı ve işlevini bir arada kaybeden mekânları ortaya çıkarmıştır. Yüksek lisans tezi olarak hazırlanan bu çalışma, kentlerde değişim ve dönüşüm sürecinde ortaya çıkan kayıp mekânı tanımlamaya çalışmıştır. Çalışmanın kuramsal çerçevesi, yapısal-işlevsel ve sistem yaklaşımlarından meydana gelmektedir. Bu yaklaşımlar kullanılarak kent ve kayıp mekân arasındaki ilişki gerek yapısal-işlevsel gerekse sitem yaklaşımı açısından anlamlandırılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu kuramsal modele göre ?kayıp mekân? anomi içinde bulunan yer olarak tanımlanmıştır. Kayıp mekân, Ankara kentinden seçilen örnek alanlar (AKM, Zafer Meydanı ve İskitler Sanayi Bölgesi) aracılığıyla analiz edilmeye çalışılmış, seçilen örnek kentsel mekânlar, Gazi Üniversitesi'nde 2007, 2008 ve 2009 yıllarında yapılan kış okullarının ortaya koyduğu projeler ışığında tartışılmıştır. Cities are continuously changing and transforming dynamic entities. The process of change and transformation has created in the cities either structural deformation or loss of function or spaces that are losing both their structure and function. This study, prepared as a graduate study, is an attempt to define the lost space that emerged during the change and transformation processes in the cities. The theoretical framework of the study is composed of the structural-functional and the system approaches. Based on these approaches the relationship between city and lost space has been explained from the perspectives of the both structure-function and system approaches. According to this theoretical model ?lost space? is defined as the area existing in the anomy. The lost space has been analyzed through the example areas chosen from the Ankara city (AKM, Zafer Square and Iskitler Industrial Area), the chosen example areas have been debated through the projects put forward by the winter schools of 2007, 2008 and 2009 at Gazi University.
