Mizânu’l-Ukûl fi’l-Mantık ve’l-Usûl adlı eserin müellifi olan Ali Sedâd (1857-1900), dönemin önemli devlet adamlarından biri olan Ahmed Cevdet Paşa’nın oğludur. Ali Sedâd, Fârâbî ve İbn Sînâ gibi Aristoteles mantık geleneğini devam ettirmekle birlikte kendisinden önceki mantıkçılardan farklıdır. Çünkü Batı’da gelişen anlayışları iyi tanımış ve buna dair önemli tartışmaları Türkiye’ye taşımıştır.<br/><br/>Mizanu’l-Ukûl, Avrupa’da gelişen mantık akımlarına dair bilginin yer aldığı, kendi alanında yazılmış ilk telif eserdir. Bu eser, üç giriş (mukaddime), dört bölüm (kitap) ve bir ekten (lâhika) oluşmaktadır. Birinci mukaddimede tarihi bilgi, ikinci mukaddimede mantığın ta‘rif ve tesmiyesi, üçüncü mukaddimede ise mantığın sübut ve sıhhatine değinilirken; birinci bölümde tasavvurât, ikinci bölümde tasdîkât, üçüncü bölümde metod (usûl), dördüncü bölümde safsata, ekte (lâhika) ise “mantığın cebre tatbîki” başlığı altında Boole ve Stanley Jevons metodu (usûlü) yani riyazî mantık anlayışları ele alınmaktadır. Mîzânu’l-ukûl, ülkemizde cebirsel mantığa ve metodolojiye yer veren kendi türünün ilk orijinal eseri olma hüviyetini sahiptir.<br/><br/>Ali Sedad, eserinde Avrupa’da mevcut mantık anlayışlarını aktarmakla yetinmemekte, onların eleştirisine de yer vererek, bu alanda bir otorite olduğunu göstermektedir. Mantık konularını, mantık kitaplarından aşina olduğumuz tarzın dışında ayrıntılı bir şekilde ele alan Ali Sedâd, eserin “bilimlerde metod” bölümünde, her bilimi ayrı ayrı inceleyerek, bilimlerin konuları, gelişmeleri, prensipleri üzerinde durmuş, mantıktan çok bilim felsefesi yapmıştır. |
